What you can view anonymously on Instagram
From any public Instagram profile, StalkStory shows:

What you CAN'T see (be honest with yourself)
From private profiles, no anonymous viewer can show:

Will the person know I viewed their story?
No. Here's why in detail:
When you watch an Instagram story while logged into your personal account, Instagram registers your @username in a list visible to the story owner. They can see exactly who watched and when.
StalkStory bypasses this by never logging into Instagram. We access the same public APIs that Instagram exposes to unauthenticated visitors of instagram.com. Since there's no session tied to you, Instagram has nothing to attribute the view to. Your name never appears in any list.
This is the same effect you'd get from using a secondary Instagram account ("alt") to watch stories — except you don't have to create one.
